Lip enhancement surgery is a simple and quick procedure that can be performed in less than a half hour as outpatient surgery. The operation involves using either an FDA-approved filler injectables or using a small portion of excess skin. The excess tissue may be obtained from your lower belly (revising an old pre-existing scar, like a C-section scar works well as the donor site) or from the excess skin during a concomitant facelift, which is then transferred under your lips. This is done while you are asleep.
Whenever possible, Dr. Isik prefers to use your excess skin for the augmentation, as this results in a permanent fix. Fillers have to be repeated on a frequent basis, usually yearly. Lip augmentation can be done for one lip, both lips, or combined with other common plastic surgery procedures, such as a facelift or eyelid lift. The incisions heal rapidly and often leave invisible scars in your lips. The result is a natural fullness that is restored, without any artificial firmness.
