Facelift

Seattle and Bellevue Washington

As part of the normal aging process, creases may form around your mouth and deep folds may appear around your eyes, cheek and neck. This is often accompanied by descent of the cheek fat so that your cheeks appear flat. Fat deposits can form in the lower face (jowls) and neck (submental fat). These features can make you look older than you may actually wish to look and feel.

A facelift, or rhytidectomy, is a plastic surgery operation that can decrease some of the most visible signs of aging by removing the excess skin and fat around the jaw line and neck, removing the skin folds and creases in front of the ear, tightening the neck muscle (platysma), and restoring a crisper definition to your facial features. The cheek fat that has descended will be repositioned to a higher position. A facelift can be done alone, but is often done in conjunction with other procedures such as eyelid surgery. The result is improvement in your facial appearance and a more youthful yet, very natural look.

A facelift should never be "obvious" with a tight appearance to your face, which can occur with inexperienced plastic surgeons. Rather, a facelift should look very natural. Dr. Frank Isik has over a decade of experience in plastic surgery to assure you that your facelift results will appear natural.

Face lift operation is done as outpatient surgery, meaning you will go home the same day of your surgery. A facelift involves incisions that are concealed in front of and behind the ear. Bruising tends to be minimal after the first week. Most people take 2 weeks off from work so as to make their reappearance with minimal swelling or bruising.

The best candidate for a facelift is a man or woman in their late thirties to late seventies. Patients who have poorly controlled high blood pressure or are smoking should refrain from a facelift until their blood pressure is well controlled and they have ceased smoking for at least 6 weeks. Otherwise, your complication rates will be higher.
